The Ontario Provincial Police we’re alerted to a Break and Enter at the Elmvale Jungle Zoo in Springwater Township. The incident also turned out to be a robbery where three animals were stolen; and 18 inch tortoise, a black and white Lemur and a black Gibbon monkey.

The animals are valued by the zoo at over $20,000 with the police accepting anonymous tips at at www.p3tips.com.

Their investigation, so far, has led them to believe that the suspects gained access to the zoo by cutting a hole in the fence. This would have been visible to vehicles travelling along County Road 27 between 10pm and 6:30 am May 28.
