Mississauga has become the longest-running municipality in Ontario to win the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the 20th time, April 11th. This honour was bestowed on the city for their 2016 Financial Report from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

“For many years, we have excelled at presenting our financial reports in an informative and innovative way,” said Gary Kent, Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. “Twenty consecutive awards speak to our high standard of strong comprehensive financial reporting and the commitment we uphold to being transparent and accountable. Thanks to a dedicated team of City staff for all their work.”

The GFOA report provides a snapshot of the City’s financial position while highlighting its achievements from 2016.

Kent added, “It is an honour to win this prestigious national award from the GFOA that recognizes municipalities for their highest standards for preparing local government popular reports.”
