William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation) hosted their fifth annual Holi Gala, a fundraiser celebrating the arrival of Spring, April 7. The Holi Gala, also known as The Festival of Colours, took place at the Pearson Convention Centre in Brampton.
Over $555,000 was raised, setting a new record for the Holi Gala. The money raised will go towards new and improved equipment and redevelopment at Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support for our hospitals by Holi Gala guests, committee members, corporate sponsors and community leaders,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, Osler Foundation. “The sights, tastes and sounds of this magical event help bring the community together to celebrate and to meaningfully contribute to health care in our community.”
The festivities included a dance performance by the Shiamak Davar Dance troupe and was headlined by popular Punjabi singer, Malkit Singh who is also known as the “King of Bhangra”.
The focus of this years fundraising was on cardiac care at Osler hospitals, who treat up to 2,000 patients per year.
